First off, my name is Gary Husband and I live in Texas. We travel to Florida every year and spend a lot of time at Kennedy Space center . We have met many astronauts and even dined with a few. I consider some of these fine men and women as personal friends .

I find it insulting to my intelligence , when autograph collectors decide to pass themselves off as professionals and charge money for opinions. There is no official licensing required and there is no protection for the public in regard to these dealings.

Steve Zarelli COA clearly states (in the fine print) that it only presents an "OPINION" . It goes on to to state that Zarelli makes no WARRANTY. Zarelli's "Credentials" are listed as being a member of the UACC and being a CONSULTANT to an auction. My personal opinion is that AUTHENTICATORS should be Licensed . Zarelli covers himself well with his OPINION and NO WARRANTY disclaimer.

Having stating my opinion on Authentication, I am also very concerned. I travel to Florida every winter. I visit events at Kennedy Space Center and I have received books and sometimes other items, signed IN PERSON. I sell some of these on eBay and this helps pay for my winter trips. Recently, some of these items have been returned for refund, or in some cases SNAD claims filed. All of these incidents have been connected to a Zarelli Opinion. Steve Zarelli , in my humble opinion , is ignorant about autographs. I have photographs of my family with John Blaha and yet every item John signed was nixed by a Zarelli Opinion. I was there and I saw these fine astronauts. This is most frustrating.

As I stated, in my opinion, people like this Zarelli character, should be licensed!

Monetary Loss: $12000.

Location: Lubbock, Texas

Gary , you are exactly who Steve Z. wants to be.

Steve Z has NO RELATIONSHIP, at all , with any astronaut. Steve Z. was inept at everything he tried so he studied autographs and tried to make it into his career but he is (in my opinion)way over his head. John Blahah is an easy autograph to obtain.

John Blahah is often the astronaut as "Astronaut Encounter" at KSC in Orlando FL. No one would bother to forge his signature and Zarelli is a horses patoot for being so ***.

Steve is jealous of people such as yourself . You have three cousins that are either pilots or astronauts while Zarelli has no ties at all to any astronaut

It really bites when you stand in line for hours to get an autograph. You know it is real because you saw it signed and you met the astronaut.

Then some Fred Flintstone Look-Alike passes judgment and says it ain't real. I feel that this Zarelli needs to find something that he is good at and he should stay away from the hobby of autograph collecting.

I am so glad that someone besides me thinks this guy is clueless and I agree that these guys should be made to take a class, pass a test and pay a licensing fee.

Forget the outsiders that offer Third Party COAs . You will not get a refund or any satisfaction from a person that writes out COAs for strangers, instead stick to UACC Registered Dealers.

If you go to the UACC Website (Universal Autograph Collectors Club), you will find a link for UACC Registered Dealers. These dealers are the Best of the very Best. Save the Certification fee and spend a little bit more. UACC Registered Autograph Dealers actually stand by what they sell.

Forget Steve Zarelli and his certificate because his certificate has a legal disclaimer on it and in a nutshell, you are paying him for an opinion. You don't want an opinion, you want an authentic autograph and that is why I urge anyone who reads this to buy from a reputable dealer who will give you a receipt and a written guarantee.

Quote of Steve Zarelli " I soon discovered that I had a good eye for identifying fakes, and before I knew it, many of my fellow collectors, as well as dealers, were seeking out my opinion."

How did you discover that you had an eye for fakes ? Is this your opinion, or an expert opinion ? Also I would like a list of dealers that you give out your opinions to , so I can avoid them

After reading this I will voice my opinion and say that third party authenticators are a joke. Third party authenticators make money off people by giving opinions and they have no formal training at all in handwriting forensics. Some of the so-called authenticators claim to have helped with court cases and this may be true but usually in either civil cases that require less concrete evidence or sometimes hearsay evidence might be used in a criminal case in certain instances.

I Agree With Sally ..these "authenticators" carry no inventory and they make money off fools. There are books on collecting so if you want an autograph then do your own research.

There is nothing stopping a good sales person or pitch-man or pitch-woman from selling them self to a gullible group of collectors and winning everyone over with BS and then offering a certification service without having any real knowledge or expertise

Gary, it is not about you, it is about Steve Zarelli selling opinions to the ignorant and the miss-informed .
